In a classic bit of "turnabout" the Lynx bounced back from a 5-2 loss Thursday to the Scran-Yanks (boxscore, play-by-play) where they were out-hit by a 15-4 margin and beat the Syracuse Chiefs 5-0 (boxscore, play-by-play), piling up 10 hits to the visitors' 3. J.A. Happ pitched in with probably his finest performance of the year - he had a perfect game going until he yielded a walk with 2 gone in the sixth. Recently acquired Mike Zagurski came on with 2 outs in the seventh and held the Chiefs at bay until he gave way to Yoel Hernandez in the ninth.
Joe Thurston made an immediate impact as he returned to the line-up following his roller coaster "call-up" and "designated for assignment" ordeal last week. Joe went 3-4, with a double and 2 RBI. Recent Reading call-ups Javon Moran and Matt Padgett also figured into the action with Javon going 2-4 with a double and Padgett hitting his first homer in a Lynx uni.
Confirmation about A.J. Burnett has now come from the Lynx; A.J.'s scheduled to start on Monday, August 6. We've got our fingers crossed that the weather forecast will change. The Lynx just missed out on a Gustavo Chacin appearance as he threw last night in a 7-4 loss (boxscore, play-by-play) to the Rochester Red Wings. This whole Burnett appearance is a tricky bit of PR for the Lynx front office - how do you hype the other team's star pitcher to your fans?

How's the atmosphere at a Lynx game anyways? I've lived in ottawa for a year or so and never been there. This A.J. start sounds like a good time, maybe I'll try and get out there.
It's a great atmosphere... very good ballpark setting, the Lynx gameday staff do a good job creating an inviting environment and for $9 a seat, there's no better bang for the buck in Ottawa, with the possible exception of the $20 season ticket package for the Gee-Gees.
Alright you sold me, plus any opportunity to boo Burnett without feeling guilty about it is an opportunity I can't pass up.
P.S. Go Ravens
