Quick note: Ottawa's Kadie Riverin had 10 points, five rebounds and a team-high three steals in Canada's 69-58 victory over Belgium in their final pool game yesterday at the FIBA U-21 World Championship for Women in Moscow. Canada faces a quarter-final game Saturday vs. Australia, traditionally a power in women's hoops.
Cishoops.ca has the scoop on the team Canada is sending to the FIBA men's U19 worlds in Serbia (yes, the event was supposed to be here, but that's water under the bridge). One OUA East player, Ryerson Rams power forward Boris Bakovic, is on the squad. Incoming Carleton Ravens rookie forward Aaron Chapman from Nicholson Catholic in Belleville is not going, due to a hip flexor injury. Thanks again to Mark Wacyk for keeping us updated.
