LYNX: TWO-THIRDS THE WAY HOME

One could get carpal tunnel typing "rough night for the Lynx" these days. Gary Burnham, who's arguably been the team MVP and nothing but a class act, was charged with errors that contributed to Rochester's victories in each of their victories tonight, 3-2 and 4-1.

It's easy to imagine the Lynx players just being totally frustrated entering the final third of the season. Just the facts, ma'am: The team had only eight hits across the two games tonight. In Game 2 (boxscore, play-by-play), the Lynx chased Rochester lefty Jason Miller in the third inning, only to have Julio DePaula come in and strike out six over three-plus to shut them down. In the opener, a 3-2 decision (boxscore, play-by-play), Rochester leadoff man Alexi Casilla scored the go-ahead run after Gary Burnham threw the ball away on a pickoff play in the fifth inning.

Casilla is 0-for-7 in this series but has scored two runs. He must be hell on wheels running the bases with such a stat line. Brito (1-6, 6.75) pitched decently enough in the first game although it's getting awfully late to salvage much of his season. But chin up: It's the Tribute to The Expos tomorrow morning.

In fairness to Gary, the error could just have easily gone to Danny Sandoval; the throw from Gary was a little high (i.e. he had to get it around/over Casilla), but Danny tried to make the swipe tag all in one motion without catching the ball first.

"Was charged with" might have been a better wording in retrospect... those were just his third and fourth all year. Not fair for Gary!
