LYNX: HARRY POTTER AND THE BOBBLE OF WATKINS

On Harry Potter Night, the Lynx had some magic working for them in last night's 6-3 win (boxscore, play-by-play) over Rochester.

Dusty Wathan hit what should have been a standard go-ahead sac fly in the fifth, but Rochester left-fielder Terry Watkins dropped the ball and allowed Gary Burnham to score a second run on the play, all the way from first base. Instead of being back in the dugout, Wathan ended up at second, and Randy Ruiz cashed him in with a two-out double. Right-hander Bubba Nelson (3-6), setup man Geoff Geary and Brian Sanches (save No. 11) were never theatened again.

Lynx lefties Eude Brito (1-5, 7.17, 1.83 WHIP ) and Fabio Castro (4-1, 3.24, 1.52 WHIP) are slated to start in tonight's 6:05 doubleheader. Rochester is throwing lefty Jason Miller (1-4, 3.76, 1.42 WHIP) and right-hander Brian Bass (3-2, 4.75, 1.44 WHIP).

Note to readers: As you know, Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd is slated to be at the Stadium Sunday when the Expos Alumni play a team of Lynx fans. We were fortunate enough to talk to Boyd yesterday and the column should (touch wood) be posted tomorrow morning, before people head to the ballpark. You are heading to the ballpark, right?

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
