- Tailback Randy McAuley is likely returning for a fifth season with the Western Mustangs after being a training-camp cut from the Toronto Argonauts, the London Free Press reported today. If he returns, Greg Marshall would be starting his first season as Western head coach with a lineup whose one experienced ballcarrier is anything but a between-the-tackles back. McAuley is fast, but he's only had 20-plus carries in a game once in the past three seasons.
As it stands, Windsor's Daryl Stephenson's biggest challenge for a third straight OUA rushing title likely isn't coming from anyone based out of London or Hamilton. McMaster lost its top two backs, Andre Sadeghian to the CFL and Jordan Kozina to the national rugby program. - A little late to the game on this but Brian Heaney, the long-time TSN hoops analyst (back when TSN still pretended it cared about more than hockey and the CFL) has indeed returned to his alma mater, Acadia, as athletic director. In his first full day on the job, Heaney had his hoops coach, Les Berry, receive a one-game suspension for the use of an ineligible player last season. It must have been Friday the 13th or something.
