LYNX: TREMBLEY TAKES OVER, ANOTHER TOUGH LOSS

  • It's been noted that Lynx catcher Jason Jaramillo, a switch-hitter, has struggled swinging from the right side vs. left-handers. He had three hits in four times up vs. Toledo lefty Corey Hamman in tonight's 11-8 loss (boxscore, play-by-play). So what happened the first time he came up from his stronger left side? With the Lynx down two in the eighth, he hit into an inning-ending double play that ended the Lynx's last realistic hope of a comeback. That's baseball.

Toledo has a good-hitting ballclub and they made Zack Segovia (now 1-9 with an ERA north of 6) pay for some early mistakes. Give him credit for hanging in and taking a pounding to save the relievers innings.

Lynx lefty J.A. Happ (1-2, 4.02, 1.55 WHIP) faces Mud Hens righty Virgil Vasquez (7-2, 4.73, 1.41 WHIP) tonight at 7:05.
  • Last season's manager, Dave Trembley, is the Orioles interim skipper in the wake of Sam Perlozzo's totally not surprising ouster earlier today.

Anyway, so much for John Gibbons being the first major-league manager fired in 2007. A month ago, you could have got really good odds on that.

The firing hasn't done anything to quell the anger over at Oriole Post.
  • Third baseman Brennan King, who was one of the better Lynx run producers early in the season, homered in his first at-bat since coming off the disabled list tonight. King went 2-for-4 out of the DH spot, also singling in that last-ditch rally in the ninth inning. Righty reliever Clay Condrey did give up two runs over two innings in his first game since being outrighted by the Phillies, but he will add depth.

Small world. You're from Kingston and spent some time in Simcoe. I'm originally a Gananoque boy who lived for a while in Delhi.
Just a few miles down the road from HWYs 2 and 3 respectively.

My oldest daughter (set to graduate HS this month was born in Simcoe Hospital in 1989).

I thought that qualified for a drive-by hello.

    I enjoy your blog BTW.

    Best Regards

    John
