LYNX: SWANN, CASTRO WORK EXTRA FOR WIN

The oldest and youngest among the Lynx ruled the night in the team's third extra-inning win this week, 4-3 in 11 (boxscore, play-by-play) over Columbus.

Pedro Swann, who at 36 probably isn't as quick as he was at 22, scored the winning run afte pulling off just his second stolen base of the year with two out in the 11th, setting up Chris Roberson's go-ahead RBI single. The young lefty, 22-year-old Fabio Castro (3-0), gave the Lynx (31-40) the chance by pitching out of peril when the Clippers put the winning run on third base with one out in the 10th. Castro, who'd put the leadoff man on with a walk before giving up a hit and a sac bunt, got his namesake, Bernie Castro, to foul out and then retired Brent Abernathy, who'd been on base four times already in the game.

Anderson Garcia pitched around a two-out error in the 11th to get the save.

J.D. Durbin threw seven solid innings. He was in line for the win after the Lynx went ahead with a three-run eighth capped by Brennan King's two-out triple, but the Clippers tied the game vs. Kane Davis to force extras.
