LYNX: LANDON IN TIME TO GET THE 'W'

The life of a minor-league ballplayer: Right-hander Landon Jacobsen, called up from the R-Phils in chain reaction of moves, probably had to look down to check what uniform he was wearing in tonight's 2-1 Lynx win (boxscore, play-by-play) over Toledo. Nevertheless, he chucked six innings of one-hit shutout ball to win his Lynx debut, despite pitching a bit like he was on retainer from the makers of Maalox -- he threw 40 balls to 20 batters, but didn't walk a man.

Jacobsen was summoned afterJ.D. Durbin was called up to start for the Philadelphia Phillies in their doubleheader today vs. the Mets. That earned him a reference from Jeff Passan at Yahoo! Sports today, although it's not exactly a flattering reference. Durbin was pulled in the fifth after allowing six runs, but did manage to trim his National League ERA to 21.94, so it now only kind of resembles the interest rate charged by a payday loan company.

Ryan Cameron and Jason Anderson, who whiffed IL home run leader Mike Hessman for the final out with the tying run on second game, chipped in relief help on the combined four-hitter. Praise be for the tack-on run — leading off the eighth in a 1-0 game, Pedro Swann belted his first triple of the season and came in on Danny Sandoval's sac fly. The Lynx (33-44), oddly enough, had only four hits, but none were singles.
