Anderson Garcia's yeoman's work in relief was overshadowed by how the Lynx lost in tonight's 2-1, 12-inning decision (boxscore, play-by-play) vs. the Mud Hens.
The Lynx, who'd allowed 19 runs in the two previous games, no-hit Toledo over the final seven innings and lost. John Ennis walked three guys on 3-2 counts in the top of the 12th, which along with an infield out and an intentional pass, forced in the winning run for the Mud Hens. Talk about frustrating, especially considering the players had already waited out a 65-minute rain delay before Jim Rushford got the game-tying hit in the seventh.
Ennis at least waited until the inning was over before arguing with the ump and getting run, which you could kind of see coming from however far away a certain one-bedroom apartment in Nepean is from Lynx Stadium. Talk about frustrating for the Lynx, who gave up just four hits on a muggy night. Predictably, they went down 1-2-3 vs. Aquilino Lopez in the 12th.
Garcia, who had to deal with a 65-minute rain delay, chucked four innings of hitless ball on just 38 pitches (including a 10-pitch duel in the ninth with International League home run leader Mike Hessman). Garcia had his share of Maalox moments early on, but has thrown 9 2/3 scoreless innings over his past four appearances.
Too bad for the Lynx that they couldn't parlay that into a win. Hey, they're pros -- they'll strap it on again tomorrow, with Bubba Nelson (2-1, 3.60, 1.08 WHIP) facing Jordan Tata (0-1, 4.50, 1.44 WHIP) in an all-righty matchup.

I was impressed with how riled the Lynx bench became after the winning run was walked in. They really let the home plate Ump ("Todd") know that they were upset with the call.
Bravo to all those fans who stuck around after the rain delay.
Well, they're starting to get some bodies back -- Kane Davis and Heath Totten. It would be a small victory if this team could finish above .500, considering all the bad breaks they've had in the first half.
