LYNX NEED SHOT IN ARM, OR FUNNY BONE, BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD

  • The Lynx just need someone to stanch the bleeding — or bust everyone up with an outrageous practical joke — after Bubba Nelson unravelled in tonight's 8-2 loss (boxscore, play-by-play) vs. Toledo. Nelson gave up two walks, two doubles and homer to the Timo Perez in five-run Mud Hens second that decided the issue early. Each of Toledo's first five hitters had at least two hits. With a 2-5 record on the homestand and one game left, something positive needs to happen right soon.
  • At least the Lynx are getting some arms back. Kane Davis and Heath Totten have rejoined the club in advance of tonight's game vs. Toledo; and of course, lefty Fabio Castro came in on Monday.

Zack Segovia, he of the 1-9 record and 6.05 ERA (last season, he won 18 games across two levels and a stint with Team USA in Olympic qualifying) has been sent to the R-Phils. Rick Bauer, who never seemed to find a foothold during his second go-around with the Lynx and was mostly in spot-start/long-relief purgatory (the baseball equivalent of starring in a sitcom), has been released.
  • Lynx No. 2 hitter Joe Thurston is the Phillies minor-leaguer of the week after hitting .455 with six runs scored last week.
  • Lynx lefty Eude Brito (1-3, 7.85, 1.96 WHIP) throws in today's 1:05 getaway day game vs. Toledo righty Ronald Chiavacci (6-4, 3.54, 1.30 WHIP).
