LYNX: NICE NIGHT FOR THE ZACK ATTACK, BUT BREAKS ARE HARD TO COME BY

Zack Segovia's possible breakout game was the bright spot to take from a fifth straight Lynx loss, 3-2 in 10 innings (boxscore, play-by-play) to the Buffalo Bisons. Segovia battled against a team of Triple-A veterans, pitching one-run ball on a chilly night (game-time temperature of 8 C, which is ridiculous even for Ottawa in May) which couldn't have been too comfortable for anyone, let alone the pitcher. Of course, with the luck the Lynx (17-19) have had over the past few weeks, it's not a huge shocker that they would have poor weather on the night where the Senators were playing a potential series-clinching game and have the bullpen falter in the ninth inning, meaning the true believers were not able to rush right home and catch the whole third period.

Anderson Garcia wasn't able to close the door on the Bisons in the ninth before Brian Sanches, who's also struggling, gave up the go-ahead run in the 10th. The Lynx were equally snakebitten on offence in the late innings: Buffalo reliever Jake Dittler, in his first IL game this season, preserved the tie by getting Jason Jaramillo to hit into a 4-2-3 double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, then Dusty Wathan was thrown out trying to go first-to-third on a one-out hit in the 10th. If Wathan was just a bit quicker or the ball had been hit a bit softer, the Lynx might have won.

The Lynx' actions show they're a .500 Triple-A ballclub, but the honest belief here is they are a little better than their record. They had 12 hits tonight and got a well-pitched game for the first eight innings, and that should have been enough to get 'er done.

Lynx righty Heath Totten (2-5, 4.46, 1.69 WHIP between the Lynx and Reading) faces Bisons right-hander Adam Miller (4-1, 2.45, team-leading 1.16 WHIP) tomorrow at 1:05.

Go see Adam Miller tomorrow, he is a legitimate "front of the rotation" prospect. I haven't seen any rumors but I suspect the Indians must be considering replacing Sowers in their rotation with Miller.
