LYNX: FLOYD LOVE MAY WEATHER AND PITCHING VS. OTTAWA

Former Phillies prospect Gavin Floyd now has both of his wins on the year vs. the Lynx -- and several of his Scranton buddies from last season -- after throwing six strong innings in Charlotte's 6-2 romp (boxscore, play-by-play).

Joe Thurston, who counted both Lynx runs, remains on a roll -- 14-for-36 with five walks over the past 10 games, four of which have been multi-hit efforts. You've heard of the Gordie Howe hat trick in hockey for grinder-type forwards -- goal, assist and a fighting major? Table-setter types such as Thurston should have a hat trick when they triple, draw a walk and steal a base in the same game. Nominations for who to name it after are open, but the early preference is for Brett Butler, the only player in the past 20 years we can think of who ever led the league in triples and walks over the course of his career. Of course, that could change, given that New York Mets speedster Jose Reyes is earning more walks this season.

Meantime, Gavin Floyd is apparently at his best when he has a reminder of Scranton close by. Does this make him the IL's equivalent to Jim Halpert from The Office? And does that make the Lynx Dwight Schrute?
