PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?! DAY 18

Devils 3 Senators 2 in double OT (series tied 1-1): If Ottawa is worth their salt and are truly more resilient than in past years, an overtime loss won't stagger them after they were the better team in both games. They're supposed to be made of stronger stuff, so losing a game where the Devils might have been fortunate to get to overtime -- a goal with one-10th of a second left, what was that? -- should hold no terror.

As a sidebar, Chris Neil's turnover that led to Jamie Langenbrunner's winner 1:55 into the second overtime might have been the result of the bad karma he engendered with his little potshot at basketball the other day. In Thursday's Ottawa Sun, Neil was quoted saying, "I'd rather watch paint dry" than watch Friday's Raptors-Nets playoff game. Granted, everyone's entitled to an opinion and Raptors fans felt the same by halftime of that game, but since when do you set the standard, Chris? The Senators can't afford to tick off God (also known as Red Auerbach) if they want to win this series.

Red Wings 3 Sharks 2 (series tied 1-1): One-time Belleville Bull Dan Cleary sank San Jose with a game-tying shortie. Anything was gravy for the Sharks after taking Game 1. They should be fine.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
