LYNX: JJ WAS DY-NO-MITE

Couple Lynx notes: Jason Jaramillo was named Phillies minor league player of the week, while another player with a previous go-around in the capital is back in town — righty pitcher Rick Bauer, who bounced between the Lynx and the Orioles from 2003 to '05.

Meantime, the last of the three players from the Opening Day roster who have Blue Jays ties is headed elsewhere: Veteran outfielder Pedro Swann, who had a call-up to Toronto back in '02, is going to Double-A Reading. Not to sound like a know-it-all, but over the past couple days there was some thought over whether Swann was getting squeezed out. The Phillies probably want to make sure Chris Coste gets enough at-bats to stay sharp in case he's called up or traded, which means putting him at first base or DH when Jaramillo is catching. Toss in the Lynx' surfeit of guys who hit from the left side — Ron Calloway, Jim Rushford, Gary Burnham and Chris Roberson — and there simply wasn't a job for Swann, who started only two games and had just nine at-bats.

Dusty Wathan has been reactivated to take Swann's spot. Pitcher Jim Crowell, who'd struggled in his starts, has been released to make room for Bauer.
