RAPTORS: MOPETE'S BUZZER-BEATING WIZARDRY

Quick-hit thoughts in the wake of the Raptors' improbable 123-118 overtime victory over the Washington Wizards:
  • Morris Peterson's circus shot -- which was awful slow getting to YouTube -- which forced overtime redeems so, so much. Namely, it lets one ignore the Raptors having 17 turnovers to Washington's eight. That and Washington having a 45-27 edge in free throws attempted were the reasons it even went to overtime.
  • That's also where Jorge Garbajosa might have saved the Raptors a few fouls with his heads-up defence.
  • Jose Calderon (two points, eight assists) seems to have forgotten that he can knock down the mid-range shot and always has that runner in the lane.) Hey, Steve Nash is Steve Nash since he knows when it's OK for a point to save a shot for himself.
  • The Raptors average 45.5 wins in Cool Standings' projections to Miami's 44. 5 and Washington's 43.9, meaning the No. 3 seed is looking more likely.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
