"And the fact we've yet to gain the same, sudden, serious sense of perspective now that Earth is sick is something that troubles an increasing number of NHLers.Hopefully some of those wonderful readers who were here over the past couple days can write and explain to us all again how global warming is a myth.
" 'It’s hard to fathom some of the things that are happening now,' said Flames defenseman Andrew Ference . 'I live in Canmore, Alta., in the mountains, and I see the huge changes in winters and summers. Everything is changing rapidly in my lifetime, which is pretty frightening.' " -- The Hockey News

Couple of things here...
My cynical side says this kind of Public Relations exercise by the NHL is really just following the North American trend of "getting green" because it's expedient to do so. Given it's the number one policy topic among Canadians at least, this feels kind of shallow.
Still, at least one sports league isn't living in a bubble from reality (which is ironic considering the NHL is all about denying economic realities, *cough,* Gary Bettman)
