Just an update on the situation with the Frank D'Angelo: As of this writing, his representative Mike Cecere has not responded to an e-mail sent almost 48 hours ago.
In e-mail sent Wednesday morning, Cecere did not reiterate a demand for a written letter of apology or throw around words such as a "libelous" and "defamatory." However, he says, "Most of your comments toward Mr. D’Angelo are negative in nature. If you would like to resolve this matter amicably I suggest you dig deep and delete all comments relating to Frank D’Angelo immediately, including your latest blog entry which includes my letter to you."
It's not against the law to make comments that are "negative in nature" about a public figure, so this seems totally unreasonable. My response included asking Cecere if he is Mr. D'Angelo's lawyer and is he a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Like I say, he has not replied.
Thanks to the friends, fellow bloggers, journalists and readers who have expressed support this week; I don't know how to say it without sounding completely sappy but I am awestruck at how people have taken interest. I can't say enough.
(UPDATE, Sunday 1:53 p.m.: Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the same week all this started, Friday's Globe & Mail Report on Business had a lengthy profile of Mr. D'Angelo.)
That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
