VIKINGS NOT ACTUALLY OUT OF IT

Ask 100 people if my Minnesota Vikings will make the NFL playoffs, and 98 or 99 will say no.

Cool Standings, which runs millions of computer simulations to predict who's going to make the playoffs, says not all hope is lost. Just almost all of it, eh.

Chance of winning a NFC wild card:
1. N.Y. Giants 43.9%
2. Carolina 38.3%
3. Minnesota 32.4%
4. Philadelphia 31.4%
5. Atlanta 20.5%

Expected wins:
1. Carolina 8.5
2. N.Y. Giants 7.9
3. Philadephia 7.7
4. Atlanta 7.6
5. Minnesota 7.4

Figure that out. The Vikes fared relatively poorly in all those computer simulations, but rate a better odds of making the playoffs than the Philadelphia Eagles or Atlanta Falcons. Crazy.

What is for certain: The NFC is going to have at least one 8-8 wild-card team, while at least one AFC team with a winning record will miss the playoffs.
