LET THE MARGINALLY INCOHERENT, SOMETIMES FUNNY, JUSTLY NEGLECTED BLOGGING RESUME

Back from a weekend well-spent at an undisclosed location in Eastern Ontario. What did we miss?

  • The Liberal leadership convention was a real shocker -- Stéphane Dion, someone who actually has roots in the party proper, is the new leader. Wait, they didn't go with the dilettante academic or the dilettante former provincial politician from another party? Damn. Good friend Greg Hughes, like this author a former card-carrying Liberal, has more.)
  • My Minnesota Vikings are D-U-N done after spitting the bit against the Chicago Bears. How much longer are the Bears going to keep winning games without an offence? Chicago's defence and special teams scored 16 points in the 23-13 Bears win and forgotten tailback Cedric Benson ran 24 yards for a touchdown, which in Deadspin's words, "must have been an accident."

Yes, yes, that's big talk from second place in the NFC North, but if you had asked any randomly selected team's fans how they would expect to do in a game where their quarterback was 6-for-19 passing with 34 yards, three interceptions and the sterling QB rating of 1.3, most would figure they would lose about 34-3. Bears fans just keep expecting their team to enjoy the incredible good fortune of always being able to get a defensive or special-teams touchdown in every game. Of course, the Bears keep doing so.

(Back in the pre-season, good friend Jeff Dertinger, a Bears fan, figured Chicago would go 12-4 and the Vikings would 6-10. Well, they're 10-2 and 5-7, respectively.)
  • The Jays finally addressed Vernon Wells' situation. No, wait, they didn't.
  • Some very rich dudes from Dubai want to buy Liverpool FC -- Neil's favourite team.

That's all for now. Back with more later tonight and early tomorrow. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
