HOCKEY LAST NIGHT: POHL POSITION

Come to think of it, what is Spanish for "fighting chicken"?

Leafs 4 Wild 3: Mats Sundin was all over the ice, John Pohl (pictured) buried a penalty shot against his home state's team and the injury-decimated Leafs played fairly desperate to get a big win, with the much-maligned Jeff O'Neill getting the game-winner in the final minutes. Granted, then you have to deal with the ya, but: Minnesota is a lot worse than their record would indictate and are mostly in the playoff race due to their freaky ability to win in overtime and shootouts.

So a one-goal win really isn't that much to get excited over. The Leafs needed to put a couple games like last night's together to rouse the cynics.

NHL Scoreboard

Today's better games: Thrashers-Penguins, 7:30 p.m.; Islanders-Senators, 7:30 p.m.; Flames-Canucks, 10 p.m.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
