Just a quick congratulations to the Ottawa Gee-Gees coach Denis Piché and offensive guard Naim El-Far for receiving major awards from Canadian Interuniverity Sport.
Piché was named coach of the year and El-Far received the Russ Jackson Award as the player who best combines football, academics and community involvement. He's a PhD student and volunteers at the Shepherds of Good Hope homeless shelter.

Wayne Kondro had a good article on El-Far in today's Ottawa Citizen.
He is a PhD. candidate in computer science, specializing in the rare area of haptics.
A native of Amman Jordan, he plans to apply for Canadian citizenship this week.
Mr.El-Far suited up for one game with the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and that was counted as one year towards his CIS eligibility. He did not get on the field during that game, and is appealing to have one year of his CIS eligibilty reinstated. We may see him on the field again.
Haptics... pertaining to the sense of touch. Good major for an O-lineman.
Smart guys play the O-line...
