WAYNE, WHAT'S WITH THAT COAT? (LATE AFTERNOON LEFTOVERS)

Some stuff for your late Tuesday afternoon:
  • Is the spark gone from the Leafs-Sens rivalry? That seems to be a common topic among all the columnists and writers these days, although one could argue that the Toronto media might be willing to play up this angle since the Leafs have lost 10 of their past 12 regular-season games against Ontario's Other Team.
  • As if the Phoenix Coyotes' start isn't ugly enough, what about the sport coat Wayne Gretzky wore behind the bench in Edmonton last night? (Hey, Herb Tarlek from WKRP in Cincinnati called...)

Did Wayne forget to pack a jacket and hae to borrow the "ugly coat" that the Oilers make their player of the game wear to the next game?
  • Life imitates The Simpsons: California running back Marshawn Lynch resembles a graduate of the Homer Simpson Showboating Academy here, driving the stretcher cart around the field after an overtime win over Washington last weekend. You know who's not laughing? The people who bet on Cal to cover a 23-point spread. (Via Deadspin.)
  • NBA previews, we've got 'em: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards. That finishes off the Southeast Division. Next up: the Southwest.
  • There's going to be an attempt here to live blog the Leafs-Sens game (7:30 p.m., A-Channel) and the Tigers-Cardinals World Series game (8 p.m., Fox/Rogers Sportsnet). We haven't done the dual-sport running account since the Stanley Cup playoffs. That night involved a Blue Jays game and a Hockey Night in Canada doubleheader.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
