HOMETOWN BREAKDOWN: FRONTES GO 2-0

This author's hometown junior hockey club, the Kingston Frontenacs, had a pretty good weekend, doubling up Oshawa 6-3 this afternoon to complete a sweep of home games. Cory Emmerton, the Detroit Red Wings draft pick who's expected to be dominant, had two goals and a helper as part of an eight-point weekend, while promising goalie Daryl Borden turned aside 34 'Shwa shots.

The 'Shwa, along with the Ottawa 67's, whom the Frontes drubbed 10-5 on Friday, aren't expected to be serious contenders in the OHL's Eastern Conference. This weekend probably illustrated what's going to be a year-long theme for Kingston: Scoring a lot of goals and issuing a lot of warnings that they're going to need to learn how to play more 2-1 and 3-2 games.

The Frontes play in Ottawa next Sunday and yours truly is not scheduled to work. But there's NFL games on at the same time. Ooh, tough call.
