DOMINATOR RETURNS TO DETROIT, AND OTHER ASSORTED TIDBITS

  • Dominik Hasek is returning to the Red Wings. You can understand why -- with Stevie Y's retirement, the Wings were at risk of having their average age dip under 35 next year. Can't have that.
  • Couldn't care less about the World Series of Poker, but all you lonely guys really need to see the picture of Shannon Elizabeth (who played and lost) that Deadspin used to illustrate its coverage.
  • Hometown Breakdown: Some cynics would remark that those 3-5 football seasons don't come cheaply, even in Canadian university ball: it'll cost you a thousand dollars to tee it up at the Queen's Golden Gaels fundraising golf tournament next month at Angus Glen. Guess my alumni contribution will have to be buying tickets to a couple games this fall, and maybe a T-shirt.
  • Some of my best friends are Chicago Bears fans and one of them was particularly upset about my NFC Norris preview. The gist of it was that this Vikings fans better bow down to the Bears, especially when Minnesota goes into Chicago's Soldier Field. Why is that? Because the Bears won a playoff game after the 1994 season? Relax, amigo. It's all for shits and grins, and no one's pretending anyone but the Bears is the odds-on favourite to win the division. It's just that it won't happen. Not if the power of prayer has any validity, that is.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
