(Hey, you try coming up with a headline other than "Avril finds her Sk8ter Boi" at 4 in the morning.)
Well, you can take the girl out of Napanee, but you can't take the Napanee out of the girl -- like so many from our shared hometown, Avril Lavigne has tied the knot well before the onset of her mid-to-late 20s. Good on Avril and her new husband, fellow Canuck musician Deryck Whibley of Sum 41. (If you don't know Sum 41, they're one of those bands whose songs sound like everything else that made you throw in the towel on commercial radio about two years ago. But I digress.)
As some of us oddball Napaneeans (or is that Napaneans -- I've never been sure) who are still unattached as the Big Three-Oh comes up fast are learning from the bitter experience that is each new day, the good ones of all genders and persuasions are getting snapped up faster than those Home Hardware shirts people were buying a couple years ago after Avril wore one on Saturday Night Live.
Anyways, best of luck to the happy couple, who were probably destined to meet, since they both came from families where the parents apparently never learned to spell. Here's hoping they become the new Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida -- married musicmakers who are completely non-threatening and just a little bit insufferable.
Sadly, dear reader, the energy's just not there for a list counting down Napanee's 10 most famous citizens. Former CFL lineman and current Bishop's University football coach Leroy Blugh is locked in at No. 3, it's a tussle between Avril and Sir John A. Macdonald for the top two spots and in my wildest dreams, yours truly has a death grip on the No. 8 or No. 9 spot.
Sorry for jumping from Mideast politics to Avril Lavigne, but such is the life of a copy editor. The next post will deal with sports, and I am willing to put that in a certificate you can frame.

Are you latching on the the fame of Napanee? Last time I checked, you were from Bath, which, while near Napanee, is not the same town. Moreover, it is not even located in the same township. Be proud of your roots man! Being from Napanee is not all it is cracked up to be!
Pat.... where's the hospital again? Besides, we were on Napanee rural route.
Just to make it clear: No one should admit to coming from Bath.
What's the matter with Bath? I mean, if you weren't from there, it would be a nice quaint visit. You would also have to be about 75 years old, but still...
Besides, if I were the Sager's I would be venturing to a Kingston hospital nonetheless. At least I can give birth there....well, not me PER SE...but you get the idea.
well, in the '70s and '80s babies were still born in Napanee.
Super color scheme, I like it! Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing this wonderful site with us.
