Paul Quantrill, the winning pitcher, had to hit for himself in the 13th and ended up getting a RBI single.

Second game -- scored four in the eighth for a 7-3 win. It was all about our third basemen ... Kelly Gruber pinch-ran in the eighth, stole second and came in with the lead run on pinch-hit single by Rance Mulliniks. Troy Glaus then crushed the first pitch from Brandon Webb for a three-run homer.

Fun part about that one is I used so many pinch-hitters I ended up having Rance spend 2 innings in left field, a position he never played in his entire career.

Jonah Keri's Expos are tied for first in the Expansion Two division, albeit with a 14-17 record. Dennis Martinez (4-3, 3.34, 1.29 WHIP) has been their best starter. Rusty Staub is their best hitter (.875 OPS). Tim Burke has also been lights-out in the bullpen.sagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08757652892056684490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16538424.post-61443743999561663292009-02-06T12:04:00.000-05:002009-02-06T12:04:00.000-05:00That's a very nice piece by Bob, though, despite t...That's a very nice piece by Bob, though, despite the misspellings.
